No munchkins in the hood is a tall order... I always thought "harvest Festival" meant "kids party" or do I have the wrong dictionary. Enjoy it, the kids should be fun, especially the wee ones.

Woa... Chicks with Sticks is like 500+ now? I have heard of ya'll, but I assumed it was like small... I guess that explains that knitting place behind my house now, I assume business is doing well there.

(Ohh btw, if anyone knows someone at that knitting place, ya'll might want to let them know they should secure their AP, it is quite open and accessible, and if that connects into their store...)

re strollerville: would it be horrible of me to petition to get a special stroller lane on 24th st? i'm sooooo tired of trying to do business and being trapped by them all the time.

i mean, i know it's not going to happen, but i'd hope a petition would raise awareness among the stroller wielders.

i had no idea harvest fest = kids' party, or i wouldn't have volunteered.

re the knitting store--the one on 24th or a different one? they were so rude to me at the one on 24th i won't be setting foot in there again.

i actually know susi who runs the knitting store well & work there sometimes. i'll let her know about the AP.

As for someone being rude to you there i'm so sorry & I bet I know who it was & she no longer works there. We strive to be "militantly friendly" because we hate that whole mean knitting store thing.

              Steph,
Just say the word and I can drop their network, I have full access to it. :)

As for the harvest festival, I believe that in current days it is considered more of a gathering for fun and entertainment, thus the kids/wee ones. In the old days it was a time to celebrate the all the crop growths and pickin's. People would spend time in the fields pick, cutting, and whatever to gather everything to bring to store for the winter and sell at market. The festival was a release of sorts, throw a party to celebrate that it was done and they could start growing more for next year. I forget where the maypole came into play as well. (Do not quote me on this now, I have forgot the details on this since it was a long time since I worked at the faire... Thanks to many, many years working at the Ren Faire, I have "relived" the harvest festivals many times over, day in and day out.

I hope this one is entertaining and fun. I assume they will be selling stuff like the farmers market does as well as other things.

Ok, the Harvest festival thing is going to be this weekend. Apparently 24th street between Noe & Elizabeth will be closed off. I am not sure of what other streets, anyone out there have any details?

Uhh ohh... lots of kids? Now I'm scared... I am supposed to help setup some tent thing for a friend... This ought to be fun.

Anyone know what bands are going to be there?

Here is the band line up from the Noe Valley Voice.

The Sterling Bank & Trust Main Stage at 24th and Church streets will feature four bands performing throughout the day. A group of all-stars from the San Francisco School of the Arts kicks off the music from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Then the popular local band Playdate performs rock and pop from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. The funk band Groovus plays from 2 to 3:15 p.m., and the Nitecaps will end the day with soulful blues from 4 to 5 p.m
